UK Hallmarking

Many Sterling Silver Jewellery items are made for the North American Market which only require a .925 mark of fineness and not a hallmark.

Under the UK Hallmarking act of 1973 (subject to certain exemptions) all products consisting of precious metals (Gold, Silver, Platinum, Palladium etc.) offered for sale within the UK must be appropriately hallmarked.

To comply with UK Hallmarking law all Sterling Silver products offered for sale by Ever Changing Fashion Ltd. in excess of 7.7 grams (weight of precious metal excluding any stones) are sent to a UK Assay office for testing and hallmarking. The UK hallmark is applied in addition to the .925 mark of fineness which is applied for the North American market.
